Copenhagen Wheel – High Efficiency Biking
I just came across this great invention recently from researchers at MIT. Basically it is a rear wheel replacement for bikes that will store energy that you create from braking and going down hills. It then uses the stored energy to help you go uphill and rider longer distances without as much fatigue.
This is made with the commuter and casual rider in mind and not really meant for the sportperson. One other great thing it does is track track your riding statistics and learns from the way you bike to create the most efficient use of your energy. The only downside is the cost: $700. But, I’m sure the price will go down as production increases. Take a look at the video to learn more!
